the funny side of injections

March 19, 2009

Turns out, there’s a funny side to MS injections. Who knew, right? This dude, Paul, made a video about the 4 steps he takes before doing his interferon shot. HI-effing-LARIOUS. Seriously. I think I need to add watching this video to my own pre-shot routine. Completely refreshing to see someone take this approach to explaining [...]

vacation’s all i ever wanted

March 9, 2009

My new life with MS means travel brings up a sticky issue–what to do about my Avonex shot. I know I won’t be able to avoid traveling with my MS treatment forever, though. How do you-all handle travel and the drugs?

drop it like it’s floppy

February 24, 2009

One of my most annoying MS symptoms, other than the random tingling and numbness and fatigue & etc., is foot drop. I don’t have it bad every day, but usually, my right leg and foot are slower and heavier than my left.

plus i got depression

February 21, 2009

How do people with Multiple Sclerosis know when they’re depressed? I mean, what’s the difference between being seriously distraught over living with MS versus regular depression?

Here’s Johnny

February 19, 2009

I know, this is probably old news to most of you, but I’ve seen a few mentions on the interwebs of this documentary about MS-sufferer and graphic artist Johnny Hincklenton and thought I’d share it here, too: Here’s Johnny I think you can watch the whole hour-long film on his web site, but I haven’t [...]

more balanced, more bendy

February 16, 2009

I started going to yoga again, in the interest of finding non-pharmaceutical remedies for my MS symptoms. A lot has been written about yoga’s benefits for MS sufferers, but it seemed to help me in an unexpected—at least to me—way. For the last year, I’ve been forced to be very aware of what my body’s [...]

the family business

February 11, 2009

I’ve mentioned on Twitter and in a couple posts here, that my sister also has MS. She was diagnosed with relapsing/remitting MS in January 2000 at age 27. Several years before her diagnosis, which was finally confirmed by an MRI, she’d been experiencing some symptoms and was given a spinal tap. It was 1994, I [...]

Why I Walk

February 11, 2009

I started a team for the Walk MS Seattle. I think it’s going to be a bit like a part-time job, organizing everyone, keeping all the info straight, designing t-shirts (something with a unicorn done up like Mr. T, perhaps?), but it will be so worth it, just for the fun of it. My friends [...]

saturday side effects

February 7, 2009

I’m not a morning person by design, and on weekends, sleeping in is expected. But since I started my MS treatment, Saturdays are extra slow around here because it’s my day to recover from the side effects from the Avonex shot I gave myself on Friday night. For those of you who don’t know, Avonex [...]

holy crap, you guys

February 4, 2009

There are a LOT of MS blogs out there. Like, A LOT. I was just idly Googling for “multiple sclerosis blog” to build out my blogroll and oh, my. We are a prolific bunch. The best part (for my immediate purposes, anyway) is that y’all list your favorite MS blogs in your own blogrolls, making [...]
